Hey guys,

I have just assembled the L200 and she is an absolute beauty!

I have a question, I have a 400D SLR and I'm interested in modifying it. Is it a good idea to use a modified DLSR for shooting the spectra thought the spectroscope? Removing the filter would allow Halpha to pass, thus increasing the signal.

Are there any side effects to using a modified camera for shooting spectra?

Side affects....Hmmm well I suppose there's the endless nights of processing all that additional data you'll collect:rolleyes:

No, a modified DSLR is a very good solution. I use a filter removed modded 1000D and it gives very good results.

No prizes for seeing the additional UV and the extended NIR.

What sort of grating is it that is in the L200? Is it a ruled reflection grating or is it a holographic grating? Also where could I pick up spare and additional higher resolution gratings?
