Hi Ceti and welcome to the forum.

Take as much time as you need to do the research, to look through some gear and to weigh up what it is you want to do. There is a lot of kit out there but your budget will be the ultimate decider. If you stick to the main manufacturers (Skywatcher, Meade, Celestron) you won't go wrong and try to avoid the temptations of Ebay, there is so much rubbish on there and you really need to know what you're looking at to get a real bargain. Please don't hesitate to ask any question be it technical or daft, if you feel it's worth asking then clearly its worth us answering.:)
