If they get enough answers, the errors may cancel out. Those with poorer eyesight versus those "wishful thinking" who see stars that aren't there, or count the same stars more than once.

I'm still waiting for a break in the clouds. Haven't seen Orion since I heard about the survey.

I was very worried about picking stars that weren't really stars being new to star counting...I got 17 out here in the wilds of Aberdeenshire. It was probably a bit on the conservative side, but I thought that was for the best.

Counted last night and I got 25 and that was slightly on the conservative side. After reading this thread I'm more than happy with that.

I counted as many as 28 a week ago in Powys- but that was from a dark spot and with good dark adaption. By the time I got to the very faintest it was a bit borderline. I looked again tonight and although more hazy still got respectable 11 from the Midlands.
