Shooting star in orion

Hi all I was looking at the orion nebula at about 6.25 pm (before the cloud came in) with a 10mm EP and a shooting star passed right threw the middle of the FOV amazing to see what are the odds.

Has anybody had a similar experience?.

I have... a bright one scared the beejeebers out of me for 1/2 second and blew my night vision for a while.

I had one last week whilst I was looking at Jupiter. Came as a bit of a shock and it took me a second or two to realise what it was.

Don't confuse with satellites, seen many recently whilst playing with the MN optically.

I just love it when a satellite floats through the fov... very peaceful.

The meteorites whip through like they had way too much caffeine.

A colleague at the NLO captured one on Friday night as he was imaging Orion M42. We were actually standing and watching as it zoomed through!

I was also using my MN tonight looking at Andromeda, when a satellite went gently sailing by. Right through the centre of the EP and seemed to take ages to pass.

Probably the same one was spotted from my garden - though not by me - whilst we were looking at jupiter at that time.

I'm positive it was way too fast for a satellite.

I saw one shoot right next to Andromeda at 30x. It was absolutely stunning, streaking almost parrelell with the galaxy, really bright, and with the tail hanging around for ages it seemed (well at least a second!). If I remember right it was part of the Gemenids. For me it was definatley one of my most memorable moments with a telescope.
