CCD: Colour Vs Mono

Yes, the extra effort is worth it. Mono cameras are more sensitive and have better resolution than eqivalent colour cameras. Mono doesnt have to be hard work, you can get decent colour by using just two filters. The only snag is you have to refocus for each filter, not such a big deal if you have a bhatinov mask.

My ideal setup would be two 314L+s on two identical scopes, one mono, one colour. That would save soooo much time, make for better matching of sky conditions, and do away with filter wheels, but it wouldnt be cheap.
