Uranus?

Recommended Posts

Observing Jupiter the other night, saw her moons and the cloud bands.

I noticed an object just under, and to the left of Jupiter.

I think it was Uranus, but not sure. Stellarium seemed to confirm this, but thought I'd ask the pro's.

How would I expect to see Uranus through a 4" newt and 12.5mm EP?

Very dodgy shot attached.

Do you mean physically to the left as you look at it - I only say that as all this west is east stuff used to confuse me! - It's looking good for a clear early evening here so I must have a look

Try using your barlow with the 12.5mm, you should see a tiny disc about 3 arc seconds across. To confirm it you could compare it with a star of the same magnitude, about mag 5.8, and you should see that the star looks smaller than the planet. 24 Pisces is about magnitude 5.9 and only 1.5 degrees SSW of Jupiter.
