So, I've just bought the world's best light pollution filter!

I received the 2" light pollution filter by Skywatcher today.

It was only £26 but worth a punt. It looks like it was used as the anodizing was off on the threads but that could be down to manufacturing. They are silly cheap, after all.

Anywho, I took it out, in the hand to check its effectiveness and was shocked at how awesome it was.

Check one: Put over a street light. Instantly wiped out the orange glow but seemed to still be colourful (needs a proper test...of course).

Check two: I kid you not, I put it up against the street light again and the whole village plunged into darkness! :D An outstanding achievement from a £26 filter ;)

If only it could do it every time :p

The timing of it was exact. I love coincidences like that. :D

On the down side...seems the little hospital behind our house has it's own power supply as their carpark was still lit up (it's never used after 8pm) ;)

There a few serious posts on here comparing the different LP filters and this one comes out decent for it's price.

But this thread is more about the amazing coincidence of the blackout when I held it up the second time :D

But I will do a quick 'point and shoot' test :D

Keef: It was totally freaky! ;)

Excellent! lol. A device like that would certainly be useful :p

I have experimented with turning streetlights off with a laser on the daylight sensor they have, but couldn't make it work.

I want to try that on the carpark behind ours. Quicker than writing a letter ;)

Did you do a double take?

....mind you i did here Skywatcher leaked some top secret experimental LPR's out the factory by mistake. Maybe you got one :D
