I doubt I will live long enough to see the next one... In fact it is questionable if the human race will last long enough to see it without destroying ourselves some way or another.

I heard somewhere that, because of the precession of Mercury's orbit, there will be a date when both Mercury and Venus will transit the sun together. Can't remember the precise date ... seemed a bit irrelevant really as I think it was around the year 96000 and something ...

The question is, will anyone be bothered to use it.

I still can't get over how school kids were watching computer simulations of the Venus transit instead of the real thing, when it was totally clear all day.

By then Earth will probably be completely cloudbound with Greenhouse gases through the roof like Venus!
