opinion changing scope

If you are not enjoying, or getting rewarding results from, what you are doing now then the sensible thing to do is to change. You can always go back to imaging at some point.

The 6" Intes is an excellent visual scope though (I have one), in fact more suited to visual than imaging due to it's small secondary mirror. So you don't have to throw more money into another scope just to change tack - just start looking through your Intes !.

If you have a dose of aperture fever then the only cure is ...... aperture !.

I have a 10" newtonian and I agree that there is a significant difference over the 6" mak-newt on deep sky objects (as you would expect). The mak-newt is superb on the planets though because of it's tiny secondary.
