Animated Gif using Gimp2

Ever wondered how they do the flashy animation with the planets

that look realy great? Well heres a little secret using Gimp2....

Gimp2 is freeware and available here

(just a little note for those who already have gimp they should

impliment 16bit tif by gimp3)

Anyway..

First backup any data.

Using jpeg/bmp files rename pictures 1, 2, 3, etc.. 1 being start of animation.

The pictures need to be of the same size and well centered for best results

Open Gimp2 then drag 'n' drop the pictures you want to make the

animation with in into main window one by one, starting from the

first pic onwards . You should now have all the pictures in the layers

window showing and in order.

In the main window

Go to.. filters/ animation/ then click 'optimise (for GIF)'

A new window will open...go to file/ save as..

Here you can rename the Gif and choose where to save.

Click radio button... 'Select File Type (by Extension)'

scroll down a bit and chose GIF image then click save.

new window pops up .... In that click save as animation radio button and click convert to indexed default settings.

click export.

new window pops up, go to.. 'delay between frames where unspecified' in that window

change 100 milliseconds to 200 milliseconds (or how ever long you want the frames to pause)

click/enable.. 'Use delay entered above for all frames'.

click save.

close gimp

That's it!

Check to see if its working by Right clicking on file and open with your web browser.

Upload as you normally would a jpeg.
