M42 in moonlight

Bit of an experiment really. I have a 2" 35nm Ha filter that I have never used. I took this shot at prime focus on an ed120 with a modded canon 1000D, It's a mix of 40 x 1 minute subs. There was so much damp I daren't take the laptop out so this is unguided on an HEQ5 hence the short exposures. The full moon was very close and I wondered if the narrow band was "narrow" enough but it seems OK. Only used the red channel. Regards , Trevor

That looks very impressive to me Trevor. I was under the impression that using Ha filters was for CCD only.

Thanks Dave. Seems to work as long as you dump the green and blue channels. I know the resolution is not as good but there are still enough pixels to go around. As I said it was a bit of an experiement but I'll cetainly have another go. Regards , Trevor

Looks like a worthy effort given the conditions. Must get myself some narrowband filters soon.
