Alignment problems

I only have the eastern-southeastern sky to really look at, and my trouble is that the stars that it chooses as the second star, are always behind something so my question is what to do then?

Do you not have the option to choose the stars to align to?

Yes but only from a list, is there a way to add to the list? It's a synscan xt computer.

Hi, another way possible, is try using Eqmod... there you have the possibility to transfer the star (or stars) you are looking at to your Pc, and then make a new list for Alignment..

Don't know if the orion system will let you do this, but when aligning the celestron, I tend to do a one-star align, followed by a GOTO to a star of my selection (I'm just looking at it, so the system does not limit me), get it centred and then add that star as a second alignment point using the ALIGN procedure.
