First Orion widefield!

This is my very first attempt at wide field astrophotography. I Bought a Canon Eos rebel yesterday, learned how to adjust the manual focus and shutter speed and bingo, my first wide shot. no tripod then, (bought one today!) but here it is in its simpleness.

Thank you, sadly the username is very optimistic, and less realistic...o well. However i do have a few dark locations i can drive to nearby. This pic was taken off my 3rd floor balcony on the outskirts of Manchester, so LP is a problem.

An excellent start, things will just get better and better with the tripod.

Which eos do you have ? If it has it you should have a look at the mirror lock up function, its slightly hidden in the user function area but it helps a lot with reducing movement caused by mirror movement. Also helpful is using either remote shutter (i use a cheap ebay infra red one) or simply using the delayed release so pressing the button doesn't shake the camera.

Thanks, and your very right, i bought the tripod and used it this afternoon to take a pic of the moon. I also used the 2 second timer to avoid shake. not a telescope view for sure, but clean and steady!
