First attempt M42 - and second, third

This is my first attempt on M42 - ED80 with Canon EOS 400D, 6 pictures, 10 seconds ISO 400 stack together. Don't laugh please.

very nice start Saso. on my screen at work i just see the core , if this is the case , try 40 secs and 800 iso subs go for 10 , but a goodstart mate focus spot on

Yes - just nipped out the good bit and adjusted the colour levels. Also did a Gaussian blur 0.5 pixels wide to smooth the jpg stuff. Looking very good I think - you should be more than pleased with it!

Sorry, I forgot to add that. I use prime focus - only ED80 without any barlow. I can't reach focus with Barlow but I learned in another post that I can use extension tube.

Keep up the good work.

Try practicing your processing skills. You have a lot of detail in your image and it's well focused.

Processing will bring out the detail - as Arthur has done.

Last night I try for third time. Second time I better forget. I manage to stack together 10 images ISO 800 1 minute long. I also try longer expositon but my tracking is not good enough. 5 minutes at 800 ISO show great details but tracking...

OK you lot! I strongly suspect that you are trying to maintain the black point of your "reworks" and so losing some of the finer bits of the image. Don't be afraid to have a background that is not perfectly black - in life it never is and a too dark black will make the image seem contrived imo.
