Just curious if anyone here use the bahtinov_focusser software and if so what experinces you have had, I have always used the mask with a visual view via live view on x10 mag

So from what i understand you run the software point a webcam at the image in live view and it will tell you if your spot on or not ?

Hi John,

I've used one of the focus software apps. They are very good and accurate but I now focus by eye as I don't have a motor focus. I'd be there all night otherwise trying to get it right on the hand wheel.

The one I used measured a downloaded sub.

No. What I do is get the Liveview image on my laptop screen and then run the grabber program. I then bracket the liveview star image with the grabber program. It takes a bit of juggling to get the 2 programs running in separate windows on the desktop but it does work.

Sorry, I didn't explain too well.

If you use the grabber, it's very accurate. So accurate that to try and move a camera lens or R & P focuser just a micron or two is an exercise in frustration. You could get lucky or you could just use the downloaded sub and focus as best you can with the eye. If you have a focus motor it could well be different.
