Buying advice please

Recommended Posts

I would like to get started in Astrophotography, mainly deep space objects. My budget is around £650. The scope and mount I require must meet the following requirements.

- fairly easy to use (GOTO maybe?)

- mount good enough to make a start in DSO imaging (I hear EQ5 will be minimum)

- the option for some planetary observation (moon, Jupiter & Saturn rings)

I had thought about the*Skywatcher Explorer-150P DS with EQ5 Pro GOTO. would this be a good starting point for DSO imaging? Also, If equipped with 7-10mm eye piece and x2 Barlow would it allow me some basic planetary observation?

At present I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ28 super zoom bridge camera, similar to DSLR in size/weight, has full manual mode etc. Would look to upgrading to full DSLR when funds allow.

Would the Skywatcher Explorer-150P DS meet my needs?

Any help on this matter would be great.

Thanks in advance.
