Hi Mick and Andie and welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on buying a scope and hope that the weather holds up to give you a chance to use it. The BBC programme did give the impression that taking digital images is quite simple which it is, if you only want to obtain wide field views from a tripod. Unfortunately in that segment, they did include images that you cannot obtain by this same method and in fact require a little bit more kit and a fair bit more processing. If imaging is your aim then can I suggest you read "Making Every Photon Count" by Steve Richards (FLO £19.95) which is a comprehensive guide detailing what you need to obtain different types of images. It is a well written book which provides a really good overview that might in fact save you money as well.

Clear skies for you new scope!

James

Welcome Mick and Andie, James is right imaging through a scope is advanced stuff whereas imaging through a DSLR lens is not so difficult. Take it a step at a time and enjoy the sights the sky has to offer.
