The Clown Nebula

A new one for me, not really sure what it's supposed to look like!

Had a little search on SGL and couldn't find that anyone had imaged it before - but that can't be right.

Taken with the C925 with F63 reducer. H9 with 7nm Ha filter. 2 x 5 minute subs and 5 x 10 minute Subs...

Can't really see the clown in it either

There is a strange effect on the stars - that doesn't seem to be in the subs, but some of the subs did have slightly elongated stars. Guiding wasn't perfect by a long shot!!!

Hello Ant.

The eskimo name becomes more obvious when you see the detail in the core. A trick with this one is to go for much shorter subs as it's pretty bright....2 minutes will do it fine, even with NB filters.

I've imaged it a few times. I'll post a pic if you want....thought it was on my site but it looks like I've not put it on there

It's an odd effect on the stars for sure....no idea wht's causing it though.
