Jupiter last night, Venus this morning

I got a quite short view of Jupiter last night - first time in over a month, and I was astonished to see how prominent the SEB is! It was still practically invisible last time I viewed, so it was quite exciting to see Jupiter returning to its usual face.

I observed later on as well - deep sky report to follow. It must have been clear all night :)

This morning before work I popped the scope out very quickly to have a peek at Venus. I don't know if it was the altitude, or if the scope wasn't properly cooled, but I could only make out the <50% phase as the seeing was just abysmal.

Yes, it really has been a fascinating apparition, but as Carol says, largely scuppered by clouds for many....

Carol, I was using my ED120. Shows up the main bands nicely, with a touch of detail in them as well. Wonderful telescope.
