M42 taken with canon 400L

Even though I failed to get the GOTO alignment process completed , I still managed to get some shots of the moon and Orion with my 400L lens (first time used for astro imaging) & ED80 ..

Canon eos 400d, 400mmL lens, piggybacked on ed80, 30sec exposure, F5.6, ISO 800, shot in RAW mode, 01.11am , 9/12/06

Sure is a thumbs up for the new camera.

Nice detail and colour, a dozen of those stacked would result in a very

nice image indeed

That is a really good image. The 400D is obviously a good astro camera. The lens must be good too.

Very nice for a single 30sec exposure.

That's a good start. Everything is right with the shot. Need to get more now, stack them up and you could have something a bit special
