CG-4 Synscan Goto Conversion?

Hi,

I have a CG-4 mount with the motor drives and also a Skywatcher Synscan alt-az mount with the handset etc. My question is is there any way of using my Synscan handset to convert my CG-4 to a goto mount?

I don't think so celestron and skywatcher use slightly different systems. I believe the skywatcher mounts can be upgraded with different handsets but i don't think the celestron ones can be upgraded with synscan. not without new motors and a bit of modding.

You will need the full upgrade kit to convert your CG4 to goto. The EQ3-2 and CG4 are basically the same mount. My CG$ is now a complete Frankenstein, the mount is CG4, the tripod is from a Vixen super polaris and the polefinder and Synscan are Skywatcher.

Any astro shop that sells Skywatcher telescopes should be able to get the Synscan goto conversion kit. The EQ3-2 and CG4 are basically the same mount, so all the extras for the EQ3-2 fit the CG4.
