124mm Tube Rings

Recommended Posts

Has anyone heard of 'Ray's Rings' - I have been recomend them for custom tube rings but cannot find them anywhere - even doing a google search came up with nothing - if anyone has contact details (ie phone number, email, web address) please reply - I am after a set of 124mm ID tube rings - the nearest I have found so far is Vixen 125mm and Vixen UK can order them if I am interested - they are waiting to hear back from Vixen Japan to see if they are compatible with an ETX105 (124mm OD tube) - tnx in adv.

PS

the Skywatcher 120 is too small...

...the 130 is ok (with a bit of packing I guess) but discontinued...

...and the 140 is too big!

Hi there

Yes "Rays Rings" are made to order and are very good quality and at a great price.

Here is a photo a set he made me - they do not show the felt lining.

I will contact him to make sure that he is happy with me posting his details.

Cheers Matt

Since I started this topic back in December 2010, I have sold the 125mm Vixen rings a few years ago to a member of my local astro society/club and I did get a pair of rings by 'Ray's Rings'. After a few years of use, I found they were to bulky and sold or part exchanged them last year to another member. Since the 'mod' & 're-mod' of my Meade ETX105 backplate I now use 2x Jubilee hose rings to attach an eight inch dovetail bar as shown in the photos below.

I was considering strong cable ties! What do you use to prevent the tube from being scratched?

@25585 I originally used self adhesive felt and last year [2017] during the 're-mod' I replaced it and used self-adhesive neoprene.

BTW - I have not yet tried the Nagler!
