I'm only just starting to play with deep sky stacking, I wasn't supposed to do any imaging that night, just concentrating on visual as I was getting more and more frustrated with the poor results I was getting with my kit.

Since getting the piggy back rings I just leave the camera on the ED80 and scout around with the 120mm. I called the wife out a few times to look at Orion and she asked if I would photograph it for my little boy's school science club, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

Next clear night i'll start doing some stacking.

its strange I looked at M42 with my 12" the other night I think I saw more nebulosity (understandable compared to a 3" 'scope) but CCD's show more colour than my poor rods and cones can see.

thats a nice shot Greg ,should keep that one handy as the centre core is really good a longer exposure would reveal m43 a bit more , then you can layer them ,
