Switch - ED100R for a Bresser Messier 127 or 152. Yes or no ??

At the same time a C8 OTA is lighter and cheaper. So for visual work, I would not go for this scope, but for astrophotography it is interesting at at £639.

I agree Michael, not my choice for a visual scope either. That money would buy a really good secondhand newtonian.

I wouldn't get away with anything other than a small refractor for holidays. Luggage space tight but a small 66-80mm refractor and mini giro can be snuck in without drawing any attention :)

My newt would be dob based, should have just said dobsonian. Seen a few secondhand 8" f8 Orion dobs come up for a good price. Or even a 10" f6.3 dob.

I am actually looking for something like the TS 80mm F/6 APO triplet as travel scope. I did take the C8 on holidays before (though not on flights). Observed the 1999 eclipse through the C8 near Sarreguemines in France. THAT is impressive!!:)
