Switch - ED100R for a Bresser Messier 127 or 152. Yes or no ??

Be interesting to hear from someone who has used this scope what the optics are like for imaging. I'd love the 190MN or Intes Micro MN74 as an imaging scope but its a bit out of my reach for now financially.

Price is still quite high though. I suppose the carbon tube, nicer rings and carry handle will account for some of that.

Nice looking scope though, and with the price at £639, far more appealing.

At the same time a C8 OTA is lighter and cheaper. So for visual work, I would not go for this scope, but for astrophotography it is interesting at at £639.

I agree Michael, not my choice for a visual scope either. That money would buy a really good secondhand newtonian.

But that would need a heavier mount than the SCT. I did love my old 6"F/8 Newtonian, but still prefer the ease of use of the SCT, especially on holidays.

I wouldn't get away with anything other than a small refractor for holidays. Luggage space tight but a small 66-80mm refractor and mini giro can be snuck in without drawing any attention

My newt would be dob based, should have just said dobsonian. Seen a few secondhand 8" f8 Orion dobs come up for a good price. Or even a 10" f6.3 dob.

I am actually looking for something like the TS 80mm F/6 APO triplet as travel scope. I did take the C8 on holidays before (though not on flights). Observed the 1999 eclipse through the C8 near Sarreguemines in France. THAT is impressive!!
