msinclairinork
Hello all,This is my re-work of M42.I have had a bit more time to play with this some more and I think I may have made an improvement on it.I spent much more time with curves and tried to be a lot more subtle with the saturation, also I made some changes to stacking such as adding a few more subs and 2 x drizzle.Anyway I think I may have picked up a bit of the running man their too? I certainly didn’t see it the first time round, so must be doing something better.Anyway my questions to you are….Do you think it is an improvement? And is the core still a bit blown out?The first pic is the re-work and the second is my first attempt. Thanks,Michael
Shibby
Much better Michael! You've maintained the colour nicely this time, obvious in the blue outer "arms".Yes the core is still burnt out, what does it look like on the raw subs? You might try layering in a less aggressively processed copy for the core. Or be more careful with the curves - ensuring you always flatten the curve out on the right-hand side of the histogram. You might be losing some initial contrast like this, but you can tweak that (again with curves) after the fact.
oldfruit
I`m not an imager but can see that the reworked image is better and shows some nice subtle detail.
msinclairinork
cheeras guys,Shibby- thanks for the tips, i never thought about using a raw sub! great idea! I will give it another go trying to dial down the core a bit more. Thanks,Michael
Shibby
Michael, I didn't mean use an individual sub as such, but go back to the original stack before any histogram stretching.
