I think the tradition of installing the pier FIRST is a good one. Currently working with a wheely-type (Skywatcher) PILLAR on mortared-in brick plinths (within an observatory). BUT I cannot help wishing the scope was "a foot further south"! Ah, well! Repent at leisure, as they say... :D
