Big Bang - The prequel?

Wow, developments have been fast and furious!

The original post in this thread was about an article,

[1011.3706] Concentric circles in WMAP data may provide evidence of violent pre-Big-Bang activity,

by Gurzadyan and Penrose about possible experimental evidence for a new theory by Roger Penrose. Within days, two articles appeared claiming that the evidence was bunk,

[1012.1268] A search for concentric circles in the 7-year WMAP temperature sky maps

[1012.1305] No evidence for anomalously low variance circles on the sky.

Gurzadyan and Penrose have already posted a rebuttal to the rebuttals,

[1012.1486] More on the low variance circles in CMB sky.
