!st Widefield shots Using Fuji S5600

I had a bit of a play with the camera tonight.

I have found that in Manual mode it has a maximum 15 seconds on the shutter.

This Ok for some widefield photos.

Here are my first attempts.

Looks like a good bit of kit that. I was thinking of getting one myself when they came out but went for the Nikon instead as they were equally priced at the time. IIRC it has some very good features.

Nice shots Ian, CC I think the Nikon has better lens support, although I'm not sure what system the fuji uses

Gordon, the Fuji isn't a DSLR, it has a fixed zoom lens so you keep the dirt out. However it's much more than a compact digital as well.

ahhhhhhhhhhh, a "bridge camera". I must admit i'm aiming to get an 18-200VR for my D70 and that will likely be the only lens i'll ever use so the DSLR part seems pointless almost. Still seems expensive for a "fixed" lens camera maybe im doing something wrong!

The camera is a fixed lens one.

It has most of the fuctions a DSLR has and as it has been superceded by a newer model it is being heavily discounted.

I would have liked a DSLR but could not justify the expenditure currently.

You are certainly getting some great shots from it Ian and the quality of those has little to do with the price of your equipment

Last night was very much a laerning period, I was trying out various different ISO settings ans shutter speeds etc.

I used the steadypix camera mount to hold the camera but instead of looking down the eyepiece I put the camera parallel with the telecope.

With a maximum of 15secs on the shutter I don't think trackin is an issue but the drive did mean I didn't have to keep moving the scope in between shots.
