Lambda Orionis nebula goes solo...

This is the vast nebula forming the head of Orion. Since it is rarely imaged, here it is with an extra 4 hours from last night, making 8 in all. I will not want to push the brightness and contrast so hard in the full constellation image for the sake of honesty so here it is dressed for a night out on the pull! I rather like this nebula. Huge. 85mm camera lens, bright star is Betelgeuse.

I was amazed to see Lambdas extent in the original Orion image and glad you've given it centre stage as it is a forgotton sight but has a very pleasant structure - like an Angel Fish.

That's very nice Olly. This is a big one, I pointed the H9+165mm lens at this the other night to see what happened and I still couldn't see the edges!
