After travelling six billion kilometres in seven years, the Japanese space probe Hayabusa (meaning Peregrine Falcon NOT the motorcycle) incinerated on re-entry, creating a spectacular bright fireball, after jettisoning a capsule containing the first asteroid dust ever collected. The capsule parachuted to Earth, intact, near Woomera.
