Moonlit Cocoon & Dumbell

DSO imaging opportunities seem to tie in around full moons. Must be greatful for whatever clear nights we can get these days.

First a quick M27 Dumbell Nebuale

43 x 120s iso1600 iso 1600

The Cocoon (bottom image) is work in progress. There 4hrs worth of data (sadly all moonlit). I think the blue haze is supposed to be there, but I haven't mastered how to stretch the DSO target without spoiling the surrounding stars and spikes yet. Is selective processing of an area "cheating"?

IC5146 Cocoon Nebulae

55 x 110s + 107 x 80s iso 1600

Taken with Canon 1000d modded, SW LPR Filter, Celestron C8N, Synscan EQ5. Stacked DSS.

Comments always appreciated

Thanks for looking

John
