a question on filters for an 8" dob.looking to purchase a filter to give a little contrast and a better view of nebulae,will be viewing from back garden with i would say average lp,will an o-lll type be better suited or a uhc type?does manufacturer really matter?also any other filters recommended for general purpose?thanks.......ged:rolleyes2:

The attached link will give you the best information on filters. The Prairie Astronomer - From my own experience I would purchase a UHC filter a great general purpose filter. There are many makes and costs - see FLOs website on visual filters - UHC & OIII Visual filters

This will be a good start for your 8" Dob.
