I've seen my first nebula and my first galaxy, what should I look for next?

Open clusters, globular clusters, colourful double stars (quick, catch Albireo while you can!), planets, (Shadow transits on Jupiter are good...)

Download some catalogues such as:

110 Messiers

NGC Catalogue

Caldwell catalogue

Lunar 100

And start working your way through them, making notes as you do.

There are many types of Galaxy. Try and catch as many as you can.

i've not found my first yet...too much damn cloud.....BBC said clear skys ! nothing but over cast in stoke on trent :-(....

BBC website looks nice, but guess what..the normal....WRONG !

i modded a webcam yesterday, so i'm keen to fine tune it...... AND try to find my first neb or galaxy.....i may have found one, just a grey smudge, but the sky wasn't great.

To be honest the BBC sometimes struggle to get yesterdays weather right let alone todays.

To get back on topic, try looking for the three Messier open clusters in the constellation of Auriga also try looking for M1 in Taurus it's a nice supernova remnant.
