Televue Barlow and Powermate difference

Recommended Posts

Powermate for imaging. Shorter eyepiece for viewing. Some of the better quality barlows (those which are apochromatic) can work fairly well for imaging but the magnification you get varies with the distance from the barlow to the camera & is almost always greater than that marked, which is not helpful. e.g. my Celestron Ultima SV "2x" gives 2.5x with my Imaging Source camera mounted directly into the barlow. Now the Ultima SV is definitely on the upper level as barlows go, but I much prefer my TV 2.5x Powermate for imaging.
