As above what do you do when you bring your equipment in from outside and everything steams up?

Do i need to clean it off or just leave it to clear itself

The best bet is to let it all dry naturally then put the caps on.

I usually bring everything in, let it dry off and then put the caps on.

Yes ... condensation forms on surfaces which are below the dew point, if you cap the scope then the air inside is cold & the surfaces warm up first ... you can remove the caps when the scope has warmed up to ambient (a couple of hours).
