Stupid question...

Recommended Posts

No question is stupid mate.

The weight recommendation for the EQ1 Mount is 7lbs, or 3.2Kg.

So, it depends how heavy the prospective scopes are.

The mount is primarily intended for small scopes or camera.

Astro Photography would be difficult, except for the Moon and brighter planets. I think an RA motor can be fitted, to enable viewed objects to be tracked across the sky.

Think the M72 comes with a foot for attaching to mounts so I would have expected these to be fairly standard. Especially as the foot is I believe a part of the OTA so you cannot take it off and change it.

For the Zenithstar you need tube rings and a dovetail, more cost and more weight.

Look at the WO site that should give a fair amount of details.

The WO scopes come in at about 3kg (the 80 is 2.8kg OTA only) and with counter weights I would guess that the limit of the mount will be easily passed, especially if you attach something like a DSLR.
