First messier object found.

Early this morning I happened to notice that Orion was very high in the sky, so I took my scope out and sought out the sword, apparently what I had thought was the sword earlier this week wasn't. It was also dark enough thanks to a tree blocking the moon where I without a scope could pick out the major bits without a scope. What is the next easiest m object to find this time of year?

M31 Andromeda Galaxy, find the big square of Pegasus, the top left star leads to three stars that kinda curve upwards to the left, the second star has two that go upwards, go to that second star, find that with a low power EP and go right a little, a fuzzy patch will appear, that's Andromeda, I managed in the moonlight last night to see it, if you find that then go back to the square follow the three stars again to the left but this time find the last of the three in a low power EP, centre it and put a higher power EP in and that's a nice double star, Almach! Happy hunting & clear skies:D

Have you got a good book? (turn left at Orion is excellent) Also download Stellarium, it's free and I wouldn't be able to find a lot without it! Search for M13 in Hercules, I haven't ticked it yet but in my obs sight it's behind a shedload of trees! It's a nice cluster of stars when you get it.

I don't know if you'll find this useful but I've attached my ticklist that I made when it was cloudy recently, the Messier objects listed should all be visible in binoculars so figured that I should be able to find them in my rather poor scope! As you will see I have only found three so far so most of them are still to hunt for, hope it may help a little!

I also never tire of viewing the Orion Nebula. When the Moon is out of the way again I plan on setting up my scope the night before and then getting up early for some stargazing myself. The sky is full of things in the early morning sky this time of year.Go to your local Library and check out a book on the Messier objects. Enjoy.
