What did I see?

Most of my hour tonight was trying to figure out Taurus, however, after I decided to take a break from that and look around for something interesting to look at. I found four stars, kind of hard to see, but i saw them as i was turning my scope around, if I had a bigger scope they'd probably all be in the same field of view. they were very close, two of them I was barely able to see and were lower in the sky than the other two. I am very new to the sky, and so often times I do not know what it is I am looking at, but like I said these two stars out of the four were very hard to see. This was in the NE about 1120-40pm I am in the south eastern US. I tried using stellarium but couldn't see anything that looked like what I saw.
