Advice on using adapters with DSLR please

I have been using a nifty adapter from Arthur to put my DSLR on the scope with pleasing results. However, it's a pain constantly changing between the adapter and the 2" diagonal - the screw thread takes an age to line up and I am fumbling with my hands full and gloves on.

If I bought one of these:

and shoved it into the diagonal when the lens comes out, what difference would that make? For example, would the camera be too far from the scope or is focusing affected? I'd rather save the money if it will produce less satisfactory images.
