Light pollution filter?

The pollution isn't too terrible here in my city (I am in South Carolina). The only real problem on my backyard is that the drug store behind my house has a drive through with a light that until turned off makes viewing anything impossible... Is there anything I can do to deal with this? Would a lpf help at all?

But seriously I don't know what effect a LPF has, but I have one on my wishlist so I am posting here so I can watch the responses with you!
