Wisbech Star Party - a big thank you

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Just wanted to thank all those who attended the Wisbech Star Party.

Bad weather aside we had some great laughs.

It was fantastic putting faces to names and certainly feel i made so excellent friends there.

Thanks in particular to Andy Lee who helped with the raffle, and Andrew Dumbleton who assisted with the organising when i had to leave.

Also Thanks to Just Looking for providing some ace catering.

Certainly planning another one or two at some point in the future.

Once again many thanks to everyone for making it the ace event that it was.

I had a great time, despite the cloud. Thanks to Astrotiger for putting it all together.

I stumbled out of my tent at 5am this morning to go to the loo and was greeted by a clear sky! I had already packed my gear away by then, so I stumbled back into bed!

It was great to meet everyone, and a big :( to Just Looking for providing a cup of tea while we were putting the tent up.

Thanks to everyone for showing off their equipment, their hospitatily and last but not least their tips of better viewing.

I apologise to all for not saying goodbye but by Sat evening the knee pain was giving me trouble and getting unbearable so as all were enjoying themselves in the bar I thought it best to get away. I did enjoy myself, meeting new people and talking my head off :( . I now have to think of wether I can attend any other star party, my body tells me no, my outdoor day may be over :( .

Again, thanks all and good luck for the future.

Jim

Another vote of thanks to Astrotiger.

I had a great time and, contrary to popular belief, we did manage to get a little stargazing through the gaps in the clouds after 2am Sunday morning.

It was my first star party and it has convinced me it won't be my last... hope to see all the good friends I met again.

Cheers

Paul

PS Will someone take this 6" refractor off my hands before the wife notices I've got 2? :(

Many thanks to Mr & Mrs AstroTiger & everyone else who organised such a fantastic week-end.

It was my first star party but, weather aside, was enjoyed wholeheartedly by both myself & my lad, both newbies. We learnt a great deal from circulating & socialising over the course of the two days we were there. Not least complete admiration (& a bit of envy!) for some of the the astro kit, but some of the camping set ups were luxurious to say the least.

I'd never heard of carpet in a tent before! One chap (you know who you are!) even brought a coffee machine, damn fine idea that one.

Thanks again & to all I met, keep in touch & see you at Kelling.

Hey neighbour!

Respect due to anyone hardcore enough to wait 'til after 2 am for a glimpse of clear skies. Look forward to seeing you both again.
