Yes. Sorry. If it did have glass in, it would increase the focal length, foul the rear extension of an EF-S lens and wouldn't work well with wide angle lenses.

Extension tubes are for reducing the close focusing distance, for macro work. It's just a tube, with bayonet mounts (male on one end, female one the other) and the electrical contacts needed by AF lenses. I don't know why they bother because macro work is almost always done with manual focusing aanyway.

Hi Brian, thanks for the reply. Ahwell, its not a major problem, there are plenty of lenses out there that will work with the clip in filters. Have been watching some 18-35mm Sigmas on ebay that only work in manual focus on a dslr which are going quite cheap now.
