Well I'll just try it and see which combinations work for me. I have just bought some connector blocks off eBay to put everything together 6 PIECE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR BLOCKS - TOOLBOX FILLER on eBay (end time 09-Oct-10 18:36:15 BST) £1.50 delivered.

To clarify, the battery box is 8aa, 4 more slots are hidden on the other side, so should provide the correct voltage.

I have also sorted out the perspex mounting plate. My mate at OO is going to machine it into a disk 215mm in diameter with a 45mm inside diameter for the airflow. There will be three m3 sized holes on the edge at 120 degree intervals for mounting. These will utilise the unused m3 holes on the back of the mirror cell.

I wired up just the red and black wires each side of the controller and everything works fine for me. I picked up a soldering iron off maplins for £15 and some heat shrink to make the connections watertight as everything gets really wet outside at the moment...

I have received the electrical connectors from eBay this morning and acquired a set of wire strippers and have been tinkering a bit.

The electrics are all wired up and have been tested with 8 mismatched AA batteries which I found lying around. All seems well so far, the fan spins in the correct direction and the fan speed controller works a treat.

Below is a picture of all the components wired up. When I get the perspex plate machined to fit I will shorten the long wire as needed.
