Skywatcher 200PDS - Lunar and Deepsky?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I've been thinking for a while about buying a Skywatcher 200PDS F5 Newtonian.

These scopes seem to be well regarded on SGL but I'd appreciate some thoughts / advice on using a 200PDS for;

1. lunar mosiacs (with a QHY5v) - as an upgrade to my current SW 100ED refractor (which I use with a 2x or 3x barlow - working at f18 - f27 (ish)). The 200PDS with a 5x Powermate or 4 x Imagemate would give me f20 to f25 (ish) and a lot more aperture.

2. widefield deep sky objects with my Canon DSLR.

Also any thoughts people may have about pros and cons of the Skywatcher Coma Corrector or the Baader MPCC would be very helpful please.

Thanks in anticipation.

Steve
