Hi

Why are my dark and bias images not black like a DSLR, there grey and very noisy looking?

I decided to create a library of files last night, I was surprised to see the images not black?

Anyone?

Are you getting caught out bythe Maxim auto stretch again?

314L unless you run 20 minute subs do not really need darks..everyone says that, with such a low noise floor.

Bias...not sure, they appear pretty normal on mine..(i.e similar to other CCD bias frames)

Also DSLRs tend to do irritating things to the image before recording them even as raw ... like subtracting bias, noise reduction, possibly sharpening. The more recent DSLRs tend to do more in the way of unwanted image mangling, they need to do so in order to be able to advertise ridiculous high pixel counts and ISO ratings ...

Mmn... No the images on Artemis capture look like a telly when the broadcast is shut down... grey and noisy?

I'll put a file up when I get home.. but it looks like this on the Artemis screen.

Once the Lum is stacked it looks smooth?

but what is the Artemis capture program doing with the DISPLAYED data (versus what is being saved out). I would put money on that image you show above being auto-stretched for display purposes.
