Batch conversion of RAW files to JPEG

Hello,

Is there any way of converting a whole load of RAW images from a DSLR to JPEGS, without having to laboriously open each one in turn and 'save as...'?

I think Faststone Image Viewer can do that - and it is free and useful for so much else.
