Solar Activity 14 Sep

Greyed out yesterday; a showery day today with some sunny intervals but an increasingly strong wind between increasingly fierce showers.

Solar activity seems to be on the decline. The new AR in the northern hemisphere (AR 11107) seems to be dying off:

... and the major AR in the southern hemisphere, 11106, seems to be much less complex than it was on Sunday.

I tried to image the AR in white light but was unable to use the FLT 110 at all because of the strong wind and even had trouble with the little 60mm Lunt scope:

1353 UT. Lunt 60mm, Lunt solar wedge, 4x Imagemate, DMK21

There is a large brightish "hedgerow" prominence on the SE limb but otherwise only minor prominences.

The patch of interesting filaments in the north western sector persists:

Transparency good in small gaps between showers. Seeing moderate but largely moot due to wind vibration issues. Temperature 14C, wind NW force 5 increasing 6-7 gusting gale 8.
