Another Polar alignment thought.

Hi,

Just a thought. I use the dreaded WCS software to polar align and can easily get the pole height correct.

When the vertical adjustment is done...

Isn't the task of horizontal adjustment just a matter of putting polaris on the "polaris circle" of my polar scope, using the horizontal adjustment on my mount? I mean... Polaris should never be outside that ring... Never?!

Is there usually a significant error there? I will of course also be guiding at the same time.

The question is if the error will be significant for the focal length/chip size. It might be just fine for the Megrez 90 + 0.8 reducer @ ~500mm + canon 10D.

... Or I could just figure out how to enter RA coordinates into that dreaded WCS program! :-)
