12" QDD and Nikon moon

I'm really pleased with this one..

Set up the QDD and collimated it (unlike last night) and decided

to try my Nikon 5400 afocal with a 40mm eyepiece.

Heres the image much reduced

to show Tycho and it's surrounding area

Last one for tonight (honest )

Same setup again but this time image taken in

cameras RAW mode (not used this much before).

Better control over exposure I think

Yes Gaz was right, the surface looks grim and needs some TLC.

Will get it done when I've finished tinkering

Goes to show that you need not get paranoid over a little dust on a mirror

Have you got a photo of the mirror Phil? You should make a montage that says "look at my mirror!! And look at this photo of the moon I took with it! Who needs a clean mirror!"

Its not a competition mate, only with yourself to improve on what you've done already.

Taken me two years to nearly get the hang of this, your efforts have shot ahead in

a matter of a few weeks.

cheers , my first pics were bad and i am very pleased i am getting better results now , and i am very pleased that the time i and others have spent taking pics and processing them are pleasing ourselves and others .
