My $50 Observing "Chair"

Recommended Posts

I ruined my night vision last night taking a couple of pictures of my solution to the observing chair problem. Combined with a cheap resin chair, this stepladder gives me very steady and comfortable access to the EP wherever it ends up, except if it is underneath, then I must rotate the scope in the Wilcox rings, which puts the alignment at some risk.

The steady bar across the top is perfect, and, at 16" inside measirement, the top step is wide enough for my aging butt.

I like it!

I'd place the chair a little bit closer to the scope in the last picture and rotate the focuser a little upwards. I always find it most comfortable when looking slightly down.
